A/VEC: Audio/Visual Experiential Collaboration

The A/VEC series was inspired by a curiosity to explore what a filmmaker paired with a musician could dream-up, create and craft together with a limited amount of time and direction. Filmmakers are given one month to create and produce a short film, which is then handed off to the band, who then has 10 days to write and produce a soundtrack. There is an element of anonymity as the filmmaker and artist do not know the identities of each other. This allows the work to speak for itself and for each artist to work without preconceived notions. Each step of the process allows everyone involved to push their creative boundaries and think beyond what is expected. The end result is a one-time and intimate performance of the soundtrack to a screening of the film in front of a live audience at Marmoset’s HQ.
